Argentine universities receive funding for exchange

The Embassy is pleased to announce the winners of the funding competition for Argentine universities that will allow these institutions to implement more than 80 exchanges for Argentine and US students, as part of President Obama’s 100,000 Strong in the Americans Initiative. The projects selected for the 2016 edition of the competition come from the following universities:

Universidad Nacional de Villa María

Universidad Nacional de Tucumán

Universidad Nacional del Noroeste de la Provincia de Buenos Aires

Universidad Nacional del Nordeste

Universidad Nacional del Litoral

Universidad Nacional del Comahue

Universidad Nacional de Cuyo

Universidad Nacional de las Artes

Universidad Católica de Córdoba

Universidad Nacional de Río Negro

More than 20 Argentine universities applied for funds. The 10 institutions selected will work with a variety of US higher education institutions, such as University of California Davis, Virginia Tech, University of Texas Tyler, and Purchase College. Exchanges will focus on environmental and agricultural sciences, engineering, and the arts, among other areas. The Embassy will provide USD 200,000 to fund exchanges for 54 Argentine and 30 US students.

Within the framework of the 100,000 Strong in the Americas Initiative, the Embassy created its own program to facilitate the participation of a greater number of Argentine universities in 2015. In this second edition, the program was extended to all Argentine universities, and the high level of participation shows the great interest of both Argentine and US universities on increasing academic exchanges.
