BNC and Embassy Staff Attend the ABLA Convention – Florianopolis, Brazil

Representatives from eight Binational centers (BNCs) in Argentina as well as Embassy staff members attended the ABLA (Association of Binational Centers of Latin America) biennial convention in Florianopolis, Brazil, held on September 23-26, 2014.  This year the conference coincided with the 50th anniversary of Partners of the Americas and was attended by more than 450 representatives of BNCs from Mexico to Argentina, as well as by officials from the U.S. State Department and Partners of the Americas members.

The theme of the convention was “Going Further and Faster”, which summarized important objectives to strengthen mutual understanding among the people of all the Americas. An intensive and varied agenda led the participants to explore topics of common interest such as the development of education and cultural exchanges, English language teaching and learning, the promotion of volunteer programs, and library management.  The convention emphasized the value of maintaining a consistent dialogue with the new generation of leaders who participate in the different exchange programs between the U.S. and Latin America.
