On June 23, Consul General Daniel Perrone hosted the great American composer Steve Reich at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence in Buenos Aires as part of his visit to Argentina. Master Reich visited Argentina to present Music for 18 Musicians in an unprecedented premiere of minimalist music. Local musicians and singers played in concert at the Colon Theatre as part of its Contemporary Music Program “Colón Contemporáneo.”
Present during the concert were Jorge Telerman (Buenos Aires Province Cultural Institute), Martín Bauer (Colón Contemporáneo), Adrián Iaies (Buenos Aires Jazz Festival), Virgilio Tedín Uriburu (National Endowment for the Arts), Margo Hajduk (Argentine Mozarteum), musicians and friends. During the premiere, U.S. Consul General thanked Master Steve Reich for his commitment to the promotion of American contemporary music and said that he hoped to see him again soon on the Argentine stage.
