Consul General Daniel Perrone and staff members of the Political and Cultural Section of the Embassy met on February 5 with a group of 16 Argentine young leaders selected by the Fundacion Universitaria del Rio de la Plata (FURP) to participate in an exchange program in the United States.
During the meeting, Public Affairs Officer Marcia Bosshardt highlighted the important role that the FURP Program plays by providing young Argentine leaders with accurate knowledge of U.S. social, political and economic institutions. She also stressed the student’s opportunity to make connections with their American professional counterparts. Political Counselor Ken Roy also reminded the students of their role to help explain Argentine politics and culture to the Americans they will meet.
This annual program is jointly organized by FURP and the Embassy. This year’s program, starting on February 10th, includes visits to and meetings with government institutions, international organizations and non-profit groups in Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and Austin, Texas.
