Demonstration Alert – U.S. Embassy Buenos Aires, Argentina (September 22, 2023)

Event:  Argentina’s national elections are scheduled to occur on October 22, 2023 with a possible run-off election on November 19, 2023.  Protests and demonstrations may occur.  U.S. citizens should practice vigilance and remember that demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and may escalate.

• Avoid the areas of demonstrations.
• Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
• Be aware of your surroundings.
• Monitor local media for updates.
• Keep a low profile.
