Dr. Keith Folse, Professor of TESOL, University of Central Florida visited Buenos Aires on June 3 and 4, 2015 and provided a series of training workshops for EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teachers and advanced students. He presented “Five Practical Activities for Practicing Phrasal Verbs” and “Why Being A Native Speaker Does not Make you an ESL Teacher.” The presentations were held at the teacher training colleges, Lenguas Vivas, Juan Ramon Fernandez, the UTN (Universidad Tecnologica Nacional) and at ICANA Binational Center in Buenos Aires.
During his visit, Dr. Folse reached over 200 audiences face to face and many more virtually as ICANA organized a Google Hang-out session. This allowed other Binational Centers in the interior to enjoy Dr. Folse’s presentations.
He gave the attendees many practical ideas based on his vast experience. He is the author of more than 40 books on Grammar and Vocabulary, his areas of expertise. At each venue, the Embassy delivered free materials such as the English Language Teaching Forum magazine and copies of “On the Loop,” edited by the U.S. government. In addition, Dr. Folse donated several copies of his books.
