Embassy Day of Service

On October 18 and 26, the Embassy community participated in two days of service to create a new play space for the 30 children who live at Hogar Soles en el Camino, a children’s shelter in Buenos Aires. The volunteer committee of the U.S. Embassy in Argentina received a grant from the J. Kirby Simon Foreign Service Trust to improve the playroom and grounds at the foster home.

In addition to offering hours of hard work, monetary donations and in-kind support, volunteers, including 49 Embassy employees, families and friends, got to know the children directly impacted by these efforts through games, cake baking, and a barbecue celebrating the improvements to the home.

Together, Embassy volunteers and a group of 25 kids between the ages of one and 19, spent two days working, entertaining and enjoying the festivities. The children helped paint, clean, plant and water, and followed up their hard work with a well-earned barbecue on site.
