The Embassy Supports ARTESOL Annual Conference for English Language Teachers

The Embassy participated in the annual Argentina Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ARTESOL) conference with a series of presentations and materials. Over 450 English language teachers from across Argentina and neighboring countries attended the professional development conference, which took place at the Escuela Normal Juan Gregorio Pujol, in Corrientes on May 13 and 14, 2016.

Cultural Affairs Officer, Christine Meyer, participated in the opening ceremony, outlining the importance of this type of professional development event and the importance the U.S. Government places on Teaching English as a Foreign Language. The U.S. Department of State Regional English Language Officer, Micah Risher participated as key-note speaker and conducted a plenary session. In addition, the English Language Fellows in Argentina, Tamara Al-Kasey and Theiline Cramer, also participated as speakers. Other local and foreign experts delivered plenary and concurrent sessions on relevant topics and new trends in the EFL teaching and learning.
