HOW TO REPORT THE DEATH OF A U.S. CITIZEN IN ARGENTINA

The death of a U.S. citizen should be reported immediately to the U.S. Embassy in Argentina by email at BuenosAires-ACS@state.gov or by phone at +54 11 5777 4354. Provide the full name of the U.S. citizen as it appears on the U.S. passport, a photo of the Argentine death certificate (if available), the name and contact information of the next-of-kin and your information.

What can we do?

Help with forwarding personal effects
Work with any funeral homes you select to ensure proper shipment of documentation
Act as a liaison in arranging the dispositions of remains

Please note that the family or legal representative is required to pay for all funeral home charges and shipping costs for the remains and personal effects. Upon the death of a U.S. citizen, the next-of-kin will have to determine whether he desires:

Interment in Argentina
Cremation
Shipping of remains to the United States
