On October 29, the U.S. Embassy hosted American fashion designer Isabel Toledo at the Ambassador’s residence in Buenos Aires as a part of her visit to Argentina. Toledo, who is best known for her innovative work and for designing the First Lady’s outfit for President Obama’s inauguration in 2009, came to Buenos Aires to reveal her new line at Six O’Clock Tea, a prominent fashion show in the city.
Chargé d’ Affaires Kevin Sullivan welcomed Toledo and her husband Reuben, who is a fashion artist. In his welcome remarks, the Chargé d’ highlighted the Embassy’s support for the work of young and independent entrepreneurs in the creative and cultural industries, as well as in other business sectors. The event served as a relationship building opportunity, connecting one of the most celebrated fashion designers in the United States to local fashion community.
