Justice Community Centers Program

Alex Calabrese, New York State Acting Supreme Court Justice and Presiding Judge for the Red Hook Community Justice Center in Brooklyn, New York, and Mr. Julius Lang, Director of Technical Assistance at the Center for Court Innovation visited Argentina May 26-30, sponsored by the “Justice Undergoing Change, Civil Society, Lawyers and Judges: A New Justice Administration Project” and the Embassy of the United States of America in Argentina.

During visit, Judge Calabrese and Mr. Lang shared the successful experience with Justice Community Centers and other Courts to reduce juvenile delinquency and recidivism, increase citizen security and public trust.

Presentations by Judge Calabrese and Mr. Lang were organized by the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation, the Council of Magistrates of the City of Buenos Aires, the Office of the Prosecutor of the City of Buenos Aires, Libra Foundation, the Association of Magistrates and Clerks of the National Justice, JUFEJUS (Federal Board of Courts and Superior Courts of the Argentine Provinces, AMJA (Association of Women Judges), Asociación CONCIENCIA, the Higher Institute of Public Security, the School of Law of the University of Buenos Aires, the National University of La Plata, University of Lomas de Zamora, Belgrano University and the Argentine Catholic University.
