Public Affairs Officer Marcia Bosshardt met on March 20 with a group of students from the Universidad La Matanza who will travel to Washington, D.C. to participate in the 2014 Model Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly (WMOEA 2014.)
The students were accompanied by the Director of the University’s Institute of International Cooperation and Model OAS Academic Program Director Dr. Andres Fontana, and the University Academic Program Coordinator Dario M. Pereyra. La Matanza University has participated in the Model OAS General Assembly since 1997.
PAO Bosshardt congratulated the students on their hard work and preparation for the event, and expressed appreciation for the students’ interest in learning more about international organizations such as the OAS. She also highlighted the importance of this opportunity, provided by the National University of La Matanza each year. Economic Officers Scott Higgins and Benjamin Le Roy also met with the students, providing a briefing about U.S. policy toward Latin America and answering questions.
This event was in addition to a March 10th digital videoconference organized by the Embassy between the Model OAS students and an American professor specializing in debate, Jeffrey Hannan.
