Congratulations to the three girls selected for TechGirls 2023! Malena D’addona (Buenos Aires Province), Aitana Ferreyra Denz (Mendoza) and Paula Ferreti (Córdoba) will participate in this four-week intensive exchange program in the United States, focused on providing tools to pursue careers in science and technology through the development of practical skills.

The TechGirls program aims to improve the status of women and youth around the world; promote STEM education; foster ties between nations, and deepen understanding between the youth of the United States and Argentina.

The main focus of the exchange will be a two-week program at Virginia Tech University, in Blacksburg, VA. Additional activities will include visits to technology companies, leadership clinics, action planning workshops, community service opportunities, job shadowing, cross-cultural collaboration, and weekend stays with American families in Southwest Virginia.

All program expenses are covered by the US Department of State. Young people from the Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Eurasia, the Western Hemisphere, and Central Asia participate.

My name is Malena D’addona, I am 17 years old and I live in Ensenada, Buenos Aires. I am currently in the 6th year of high school at the Nuestra Señora de La Merced School, where I am president of the Student Center. I love spending time with my family and friends, reading science books, volunteering, taking pictures with my camera, walking my dog Mara, and listening to Harry Styles. Since I was very young I always knew that my passion is directed towards science, but in recent years technology, programming, electronics, astronomy, physics and mathematics have won my heart, that is why I want to study Aerospace Engineering.

I am Aitana Ferreyra Denz, I am 17 years old, I live in Mendoza, Argentina. I am in the 5th year of the Central University College, in the natural sciences orientation. Since I was very young I have been interested in science, I have always been very curious about the big questions of philosophy and existence. As I got older I realized that I really like math, logic, physics and programming. I plan to dedicate myself to research in areas such as astronomy or quantum physics. In my free time I like to read classics and dance ballet.
