The U.S. Embassy has been present once more at the 40th International Book Fair of Buenos Aires.
Under the theme “Top 40,” we celebrated the Book Fair’s 40th Anniversary recalling 40 events, authors, books, personalities and trends in these four decades in the U.S. through an images cloud that hovers over our booths. We displayed the most outstanding books by American authors, both for adults and adolescents and children, including titles that have received major literary prizes in these 40 years.
As usual, we have also had a section of tablets through which visitors accessed e-books, games and other applications.
Two interactive displays invited visitors to play, remembering characters and important events of the past four decades.
And the star of our stand has been, without doubt, the photo booth from which all visitors have taken home a souvenir of their visit!
Our booth no. 1807/1809 was located at the Yellow Pavilion, street 35, between streets 6 and 8.
Activities at the Fair
We have celebrated USA Day at the Fair with a performance by Native Jazz Trio, Sunday April 26 at 4:00 pm in the “José Hernández Room”, at the Red Pavillion.
James Dashner was the guest writer of the Embassy at the Fair. The author of the Maze Runner trilogy dialogued with his readers Saturday May 10 at 6:00 pm in the “Jorge Luis Borges Room”, at the Frers Pavillion, and then he signed copies of his books at the V&R Publishers booth at the Green Pavillion.
On weekends and holidays we had “charlas” by Embassy officers on: visas, travels to the U.S., academic advisoring, scholarships, and exchange programs and American writers living in Argentina.
