The U.S. Embassy celebrated the 247th anniversary of the United States’ independence with a colorful party at the Bosch Palace. The occasion was also an opportunity to celebrate the bicentennial of diplomatic relations between the United States and Argentina, for which a variety of activities have been prepared throughout 2023.
“It is important to use this day to reflect on values such as democracy, freedom, and our responsibility as citizens,” said Ambassador Marc R. Stanley. “As President Biden said, the United States is committed to a long-term relationship. We believe in the power and potential of our bond with Argentina. And we seek to make it grow every day. This is clear in all high-level visits and in the daily work of the Embassy.”
The Ambassador highlighted the many areas of cooperation between the United States and Argentina, from educational exchanges and space exploration, to the protection of human rights and strengthening democratic institutions, to innovations in health care, agriculture, energy, and technology. “Argentina and the United States have done great things together and we can do even more,” said the Ambassador.
More than 1,500 guests, including numerous leaders from the public and private sectors, and from areas as varied as the sciences, art, and entertainment attended the celebration. The event also featured a show by popular U.S.-born Argentine musician Kevin Johansen, who was accompanied by his band and graphic artist Liniers (Ricardo Siri) who performed with live illustrations.
