Emergency Contacts – All Locations

For life or death emergencies involving a citizen of the United States, please call the ACS Emergency Line at (54-11) 5777-4354.

If you are the victim of a crime, call the local police at 911. The U.S. Embassy cannot take custody of U.S. citizens or intervene in Argentine legal procedures. All U.S. citizens are subject to the laws of the Government of Argentina.

If you are injured and require immediate medical attention, call emergency medical services at 107.

Privacy Act Waiver

The Privacy Act of 1974 prohibits a U.S. Consular Office from releasing any information about a U.S. citizen without their written consent except as set forth in the Act. A U.S. citizen can complete a Privacy Act Waiver (Form DS-5505) (PDF-48 KB) authorizing a Consular Officer to contact individuals on their behalf and disclose information.

Please note that we will provide the Privacy Act Waiver to U.S. citizens requesting consular assistance, but we cannot under any circumstances compel an individual to complete and submit the form. We advise U.S. citizens to carefully consider the individuals to whom they authorize disclosure of information.  However, we also note that failure to complete the Privacy Act Waiver may make it more difficult, or impossible, for the Department of State to provide assistance.

You can click here (PDF-48 KB) to download the Privacy Act Waiver (Form DS-5505) (PDF-48 KB).

If your passport has been stolen, and your travel is imminent, you can apply for a replacement without an appointment, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm, except holidays.  Plan to provide a copy of the police report and airline tickets when you arrive at the Embassy.  Be prepared to contact your airline to reschedule flights. Please note that failure to renew a passport in a timely manner prior to your travel is not an emergency service, and you will need an appointment to receive a new passport.

For all non-emergency matters, contact the ACS unit at BuenosAires-ACS@state.gov or schedule an appointment online.
