The Embassy participated in the annual Argentina Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ARTESOL) conference with a series of presentations and materials. Over 250 English language teachers from across Argentina and neighboring countries attended the professional development conference, which took place in AMICANA Binational Center and at the Colegio Nacional Agustín Álvarez in Mendoza, June 8 and 9, 2018.
The Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer, Naydeen Gonzalez de Jesus and the U.S. Department of State Regional English Language Officer, Andrea Schindler, participated in the opening ceremony, outlining the importance of this type of professional development event and the importance the U.S. Government places on Teaching English as a Foreign Language. In addition, the current English Language Fellow in Argentina, Anna McCourt participated in the concurrent sessions, presenting on “The Modern Language Classroom: What it looks like in the increasing technological world.” Other local and foreign experts delivered plenary and concurrent sessions on relevant topics and new trends in the EFL teaching and learning
Embassy staff distributed English Language teaching materials including copies of the English Language Teaching FORUM magazine
