On Saturday, October 3, students of English from around the country converged on Buenos Aires for the 4th Annual Argentina TESOL Spelling Bee.  ARTESOL board members, prominent educators and U.S. Embassy Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer, Linda Talluto, served as a judge in the annual ARTESOL Spelling Bee, a national spelling competition for non-native English speaking students under the age of 15. The event was organized by Argentina TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and took place at the Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires. It included 48 students from schools in the city of Buenos Aires and from throughout Argentina.

The first place winner was Sofia Fabier Dubois, from Escuela Argentina Modelo, Ciudad de Buenos Aires and the second place winner was Tatiana Freedman, from the Nueva Escuela Argentina 2000, Ciudad de Buenos Aires.  Students and participating schools received prizes, courtesy of ARTESOL, the Embassy and other event sponsors.

More information about the spelling bee, or how you can participate next year, can be found on the ARTESOL website.
