Visa Waiver Program
4 MINUTE READ

The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows nationals of certain designated countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business without a visa. However, there are some restrictions.  Not all countries are eligible to participate in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).

All nationals from visa waiver countries intending to travel to the United States temporarily for tourism or business under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) must receive a travel electronic authorization before embarking an aircraft or a vessel with the United States as a destination.

Please, verify carefully if you qualify to request an authorization to travel without a visa. Before requesting the authorization to DHS to travel with your VWP passport, you must determine if your passport meets all the requirements for visa-free travel. Please, read all the information provided in the ESTA website to determine if your passport meets all the requirements to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Once you determine that your passport meets the requirements agreed upon, then you can proceed to request the authorization for travel.

Within the same link, you will find the list of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).

Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA)

All nationals or citizens of VWP countries who plan to travel to the United States for temporary business or pleasure under the VWP will need to receive an electronic travel authorization prior to boarding a U.S.-bound airplane or cruise ship. ESTA will determine, almost immediately in many cases, if an individual is eligible for VWP travel, and if such travel poses any law enforcement or security risks. To facilitate the authorization process, DHS recommends that ESTA applications be submitted as soon as an applicant begins planning U.S.-bound travel, and not less than 72 hours prior to travel. Access more information about the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
