Call open to October 16, 2023
The Embassy of the United States and the World Learning Organization inform that the call is open for students and adult companions (mentors) who wish to participate in the cultural and educational exchange program “Youth Ambassadors 2024”.
Youth Ambassadors is an exchange program that allows outstanding high school students to travel to the United States for three weeks. The program seeks to promote mutual understanding between our nations and help young people develop a strong sense of civic responsibility, commitment to their communities, knowledge of current issues of global impact, and leadership skills.
Applicants must be between 15 and 17 years old at the time of the exchange and speak English. The U.S. government will cover all expenses related to participation in the program.
The Youth Ambassadors program aims to develop a network of young adults from all countries in the Americas who have a strong sense of civic responsibility, a commitment to their communities, a knowledge of current and global issues, and strong interpersonal leadership skills. The program aims to promote mutual understanding, respect, and collaboration between people in the United States and Argentina. The program is open to teens ages 15 to 17 and adult mentors.
The program provides full scholarships for participants and adult mentors to participate in a 10-month leadership development program, focused on civic engagement and multiculturalism. The program begins with a three-week exchange in the United States. Participants are expected to implement a service project in their home community after the exchange, with the support of their adult mentor.
PROGRAM DETAILS
The exchange will take place in the spring of 2024 of the United States.
Program formats are subject to change in consultation with the U.S. Department of State. In any program with a personal, national or international encounter, vaccination will be required; Participants must show proof of complete vaccination prior to the start of the program.
We continue to closely monitor the impact of COVID-19 on international travel, government-funded exchanges in the United States, and abroad.
The selected students and mentors will travel to the United States, where they will develop activities and discussions related to civics, community service, and youth leadership development. They will live with host families, attend school, and participate in meetings, leadership trainings, community activities, and mentoring. Previously, students and mentors will participate in a pre-orientation in Buenos Aires a few days before departure to the United States, in which they will hold meetings with Embassy officials and carry out the visa process.
